The other Woody

Another portrait with palette knife in oil, on paper ca. 24 x 30 cm;
The palette knife is not a tool for precision work.
This is done while looking at a picture of the guy on my computer screen.
This looked much more like the original before I put in the eyes.

Aping Louisa

I'm still trying to get a grip on the palette knife, and in this case aping a well-known portrait of a well-known author .. not good, but improved from previous attempts.  The original, by Louisa Matthíasdóttir from 1942, is much larger, and shows the full figure of the author Halldór Laxness, seated, reading.

Oil, approx. 24 x 30 cm

Selfie 2015 year end

Following my friend Tómas, I have taken up a habit of painting a portrait of myself at the end of each year.  This time it is done in oils, with spatula -which cuts down on precision quite a bit-
This is approximately A4 size, done with a mirror immediately to my left, so it is skewed and different from photographs -a mirror image.  Looks strange to me...

Self portrait, 2015; Oil, approx. 24 x 32 cm
